Should i make the change on IPs?

i was wondering if i should change my sever to an static IP address. i use my computer for YouTube Facebook, that kind of stuff, torrents frost wire, meme base and other minecraft websites that involve downloading, i do not want to change how i download or if i can download, nor do i want people accessing or doing stuff that i do not do MYSELF to my computer, i would like to switch to host a server, that is all, i do not want my experience with my computer to change except for the ability to host a server, suggestions? help? thank you
